Western Region Big League Baseball Tournament

2012 Western Region Big League Baseball Champions

The 2012 Western Region Big League Baseball Tournament Champions are
Southern California – District 46, Anaheim

In a great match between two very good teams Southern California prevailed over Hawaii by a score of 3 to 1 in 8 innings. California District 46 now moves on to the World Series in Easley South Carolina.

Great game between two very good teams. Both teams (in fact all of the teams at the tournament) were composed of young men who showed respect for each other and the efforts displayed in the games. We would have been proud to send any of the teams to Easley to represent the West.

Today two great baseball teams met and the California District 46 team came out on top. We are confident that they will show the rest of the World Series participants that in the West we play hard, play fair, and respect the opponent on and off of the field.

Best of luck to the young men from Southern California, District 46, Anaheim.

Day Six Friday July 20th - Championship Game

Game Fifteen 10:30am – Winner Semi 1 - Hawaii 1 vs. Winner Semi 2 - Southern California 3 in 8 innings

Today’s game was a rematch of game number 8 between Hawaii and Southern California. Their previous game had Hawaii the winner 2-0.

We started the day with thunder and lightning and lots of rain. Our normal game field was not playable so the game was moved to Port Orchard where we got going by 2:00pm. We saw some great pitching by both squads which kept the bats in check for the most part. It was the top of the 4th inning before either team got on the board. Southern California’s Stratton Kim was the first to strike, with a solo homerun in the top of the 4th. Hawaii answered in the bottom of the 6th while keeping Southern California off the scoreboard further until the top of the 8th inning. In the top of the 8th inning, Southern California scored 2 runs and Hawaii was unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning.

In the end it was Southern California 3 vs. Hawaii 1.

Southern California, District 46, Anaheim is the 2012 West Region Big League Baseball Champion team.
